Exhibitors told On|Off blogger Emily Seares that interest has been strong and footfall robust at On|Off’s spring/summer ’11 showcase during London Fashion Week this season.
Exhibitions stands were constantly buzzing with press and buyers (many of which were international) and the steady stream of footfall into Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, along with a clean layout and professional organisation, translated into sales orders and buyer appointments.
Harry and Polly, the designers behind Draw in Light said: “We’ve had two confirmed orders, one from Saudi Arabia and one from a shop in Surrey. On|Off has been really successful, we’ve definitely generated a lot of business and some really good press. Marie-Claire and Elle have been round to take pictures, along with lots of stylists. On|Off is a great venue, in a good location. We’re looking forward to doing a show hopefully next season.”
Womenswear designer Nicole Murray said: “It’s my first season with On|Off and the feedback has been really good. I have one firm order with a company in Saudi Arabia, a meeting with Lane Crawford, Japan, and another with a boutique in London. It’s all been really positive. I love the exhibition space and the way it’s so open. It’s a lot easier to see the collections, compared to some other show areas, where designers don’t always get the exposure they need.”
Designer Omer Asim told Emily that this season was 100% better than last year. He said: “More people came through and there have been more potential buyers. Even some new buyers who I didn’t even have in my target, such as a new buyer from Italy. On|Off has been really good for me this season.”
Knitwear specialist and exhibitor Laura Theiss said: “I’ve had really good comments from the press and interest from buyers in Japan, Australia and Canada. I’ve also been approached by a big fashion house to do a potential collaboration, very exciting!”
Exhibitor Marc Philippe Coudeyre, who has just been snapped up by D&G to sell in their new multi-brand concept store in Milan, added: “I am really thrilled that On|Off selected me to show here this seaon. I’m very happy with the team’s efficiency, kindness and amazed by how professional the whole thing is. I’m also very happy with the sort of people who have come to the show over the last few days. I’ve had interest from Harrods and buyers in Canada and Japan. I’ve also seen top fashion press such as Anna Wintour, Suzy Menkes and Hilary Alexander.”
